    Salary: $68,961- $93,096

    The Town of Hingham seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Town Accountant in the Accounting Department.

    Duties: Working under the direction of the Town Accountant, position assists the Town Accountant in performing administrative and technical work in the municipality’s Accounting Department, including:

    providing postings to the general ledger for expenditures, revenues and adjustments, preparing information for year-end closings, reconciling accounts, compiling information and preparing reports and analyzing funds and financial information. Employee is responsible for the supervision of office staff, providing support to the accounts payable and payroll positions as needed, including assisting with the respective tasks of those positions as needed. Position is also responsible for all duties related to Workers Compensation (WC) Claims, communicating with employees and the WC insurance company as needed and acts as the Town Accountant in their absence.

    Requirements: A candidate for this position should have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration or related field with four (4) to six (6) years of experience performing professional accounting work. Experience working in a municipal setting and experience using Munis payroll system is preferred, but not required. The Town may consider equivalent education and experience in determining whether a candidate has met the requisite qualifications.  Special Requirements: Employee may occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours as necessary to accomplish the position’s functions.
